RES

The Residential Experience Standard

The Residential Experience Standard (RES) is the name for Investor in Students across Australia and New Zealand.

It is built on the same principles, methodology and insight as Investor in Students globally, with thoughtful localisation to reflect the regulatory, cultural and operational context of the Asia Pacific region.

What is RES?

RES is the regional application of Investor in Students, designed to help accommodation providers understand, benchmark and improve the student living experience.

It provides a consistent, independent framework for measuring experience, while recognising the specific expectations and responsibilities that apply within the Asia Pacific context.

While the core IIS methodology remains consistent, RES includes specific adaptations within the accreditation framework to reflect regional requirements.

These include enhanced consideration of:

  • safety, dignity and respect within residential communities
  • student wellbeing and support
  • issues relating to gender-based violence and hazing

These adaptations ensure that accreditation under RES reflects not only how students experience accommodation, but how providers are responding to emerging expectations of care and responsibility.

RES Members

Investor in Students works with a growing community of members across Australia and New Zealand, reflecting the diversity of the region’s student accommodation landscape.

RES supports a range of providers, including universities, independent residential colleges and PBSA operators.
